“My situation seemed hopeless and I felt overwhelmed, starting to skip or split my pills and my anxiety and depression had worsened.”

Dear Manet Friend:

What if it was you or a beloved family member? What if you were facing a health problem and didn’t have the resources to pay the bills or the strength to navigate the health care maze or the knowledge to find the supportive services you needed just to stay well? Who would you turn to?

After a heart attack last year, Robert, a resident of Weymouth, needed many expensive medications. Already facing tough times because of other disabilities, he could not afford those medications and did not know where to turn. Lucky for Robert, and many, many more of our neighbors, financial counselors like Sara Tan at Manet Community Health Center can help. She worked with Robert to get the benefits he needed to pay for the medications vital to his recovery.

“I will never forget her kindness and enthusiasm and the relentless caring in pursuit of resolution of my seemingly intractable problems.” — Robert, Weymouth, MA

Every year, thousands of residents of the South Shore turn to Manet. In addition to the outstanding medical care provided by our dedicated doctors and nurses, and accessible to anyone regardless of ability to pay, we go far beyond the office visit and work to meet the needs of the whole person.

We know our patients’ health depends on helping them manage many other aspects of their lives like financial assistance, access to healthy food and understanding their providers’ instructions. To meet those needs, we have counselors like Sara, interpreters for patients who do not speak English, access to affordable fruits and vegetables, community health workers and navigators who reach out to underserved residents to get them the health care and social services they need.

But our ability to offer these vital services is only made possible by generous donors like you. Every dollar we spend now for these programs helps keep these patients more healthy and out of the hospital, and thereby reduces health care spending. We would be extraordinarily grateful if you would consider an investment in your community by supporting Manet Community Health Center this holiday season. Because if it were you, wouldn’t you want Manet to be there for you?

With best wishes for a happy and healthy holiday season,
