Often, it’s the little things that matter the most. That’s what Jim Sperguiro found when he and his wife were looking for a new doctor over a dozen years ago and, at the recommendation of a friend, found themselves at Manet Community Health Center’s Hull practice site.

“My wife and I came in to meet the doctor and staff to see if it would be a good fit for us,” recalls the 69-year-old retired communications industry professional. “It was a couple of days before Halloween and Dr. Sabir was dressed as a witch, which we thought was great, and then we met the rest of the staff and they were wonderful, too. They made us feel comfortable. There was no strain. The waiting time was minimal. They’ve been taking care of us for a long time now and we couldn’t be happier.”

Their contentment was challenged a few years back when the Sperguiros learned their usual provider, Dr. Jennifer Sabir, was moving to Manet’s Houghs Neck site. Their worries were alleviated when they met Dr. Nikita Fitzcharles, who joined Manet’s Hull care team in 2015. “I was really glad to meet Dr. Fitzcharles,” Jim says. “She’s a really good doctor and she has an outstanding bedside manner.”

The Sperguiros happily make the trip from their home in Marshfield to Manet in Hull for their health care needs. When people ask why they make such long ride when there are doctors who are closer to them, Jim responds, “I’ve been to a lot of doctors, but I’ve never had the comfortable feeling I have when I come to Manet. They make you feel like you’re glad you came to the doctors. I believe when someone is doing something well, you should tell them. I owe a lot to Manet and particularly to Dr. Fitzcharles. She never fails to have an answer for me. My blood pressure is under control, my diabetes is under control. I get referred to specialists when I need it. They’ve really got my number!”
