Employees Recognized for Years of Service and Service Excellence

At a special “All Staff” meeting held at the Tirrell Room in Quincy this month, Manet Community Health Center (Manet) bestowed five employees with its Special Thanks and Recognition (STAR) Award for service excellence and honored 12 employees for reaching service milestones of five, 15 and 20 years of services.

With more than 88 years of combined experience, the health center recognized the lead patient service representatives (PSRs) from each of its five sites as the 2020 Manet STAR Award recipients, including: Hue Cam Diep, lead PSR for Manet’s North Quincy site; Monica Dougenik, lead PSR for Manet’s Snug Harbor site; Kristen Korn, lead PSR for Manet’s Taunton site; Kathleen Lombardo, lead PSR for Manet’s Hull site; and Christine Valentino, lead PSR for Manet’s Houghs Neck site.

“The Manet STAR Award recognizes an individual or team for performing in an exemplary manner, making outstanding contributions to the Manet community and exemplifying Manet’s values,” explains Manet’s Chief Executive Officer Cynthia Sierra. “We wanted to be sure that we placed the STAR for 2020 in the proper hands, and we found there were actually five sets of hands — those belonging to Hue Cam Diep, Monica Dougenik, Kristin Korn, Kathy Lombardo and Chrissy Valentino. With the smile, familiarity, honesty, warmth, smarts and capacity for good, these staff have been and are at the front of the line, forward facing, the first to take care of our patients and honestly—they take care of us. I am proud to recognize these five exceptional leaders as our 2020 STARs!”

Two of the STAR recipients – Dougenik and Valentino – were also recognized for reaching their 20-year service milestone, along with Rob Shiner, MD, who practices at Manet’s North Quincy site.

Other service award recipients included: Cathy Liu, 15 years of service; Vikram Butani, MD, Denise Desmond, Yamaris Reyes-Flores, Amanda Gagne, RN, Karra Kiely, Mary Lorman, RN, Laura Segalla, RN, and Karla Talledo, MD, all with five years of service.

In addition to staff recognition and providing staff with financial operational and strategic updates, the meeting also featured a presentation on wellness and self-care by Katelyn Szafir, associate executive director of the South Shore YMCA – Emilson Branch, to encourage employees to embrace wellness and embark on a healthy 2020.
