Most patients know they can count on Manet Community Health to deliver high quality primary care. And many have come to know that they can also receive a myriad of complementary medical services, including integrated mental health counseling, substance use treatment, nutrition services, disease care management, vision care, specialty consultation and referral, and more—right within the walls of Manet’s sites in Attleboro, Hull, Quincy, and Taunton.

For some patients, it’s hard to prioritize their health when they are feeling burdened, worried or overwhelmed with life’s troubles. That’s where caring professionals like Shareca Branford come in.

“I can’t believe a health care provider can offer me so much. I am so happy that I have people like them taking care of me.” – Eddie with community health specialist Shareca Branford

Shareca is a community health specialist whose job it is to help connect patients with services that fall next to, yet outside their medical care—and she had her work cut out for her when she called on Eddie.

“At first, he didn’t want to talk to me and declined services,” Shareca recalls. “His situation was very challenging. He lost an eye in a work accident and was not receiving any income. He couldn’t drive to get to appointments and bills were going unpaid. He was going through so much.”

When he eventually accepted her calls, Shareca was able to assist him with LYFT rides to his medical appointments, update his workman’s compensation paperwork to sustain his income while he is not working, and connect him with personal care attendant resources.

“When Shareca stepped in it was a whole new world—a breath of fresh air,” Eddie says. “She has been my advocate and she means business! I have never received health care the way I have from Manet. I can’t believe a health care provider can offer me so much. As someone who has gone through hell, I am so happy that I have people like them taking care of me.”

It’s amazing what healthy doses of caring and compassion can do, especially when it’s paired with patient persistence! The work of community health specialists like Shareca is as critical as the other elements of primary and behavioral health care—this is where you come in and that’s why your support truly matters.

You can help Manet continue to grow and expand access to care to more patients and deliver services when and where they’re needed.
