Manet will hold a series of events across its service areas to mark National Health Center Week (NHCW) 2024, August 4-10. NHCW is as annual event, launched by the National Association of Community Health Centers (NACHC), that highlights the essential role Community Health Centers play in improving public health and advancing health equity. Health centers represent the nation’s largest primary care network, serving 31.5 million patients nationwide.

This year’s NHCW celebration focuses on “Powering Communities Through Caring Connections” and Manet will kick-off the week on Monday August 5 with a special visit and conversation with Congressman Jake Auchincloss at Manet’s Taunton practice site at 1 Washington Street. The discussion will include Manet staff and patients, invited state and local elected officials, and representatives from the Health Resources and Services Administration, Region 1 and the Massachusetts League of Community Health Centers.

“Our wonderful and knowledgeable staff are eager to share with those who may not be familiar with Manet the wide range of programs and services we offer,” says Cynthia Sierra, Manet’s chief Executive Officer. “National Health Center Week is an excellent opportunity for prospective patients or job seekers to meet our staff and see our sites. It’s also an opportunity to show appreciation to our staff for their work and to thank our legislators for their support and show them the positive impact health centers have on the communities they serve. We are appreciative for the support and leadership that Congressman Auchincloss and his staff have demonstrated for Manet and the nation’s Health Center Program.”

Other highlights during the week will include a Staff Appreciation Day on Tuesday, August 6 and Open House/Health Fairs where attendees can meet our staff and learn about Manet’s programs, services, and employment and volunteer/internship opportunities, get health insurance enrollment information and assistance, receive Narcan and training, register to vote and more. Manet – with eight practice locations in Quincy, Hull, Taunton, and Attleboro – is part of a nationwide network of health centers that serve more than 31 million Americans and more than a million Massachusetts residents. With a mission to make high-quality, affordable care available to everyone, regardless of their ability to pay or insurance status, health centers save lives on the front lines of our nation’s most pressing public health challenges. They are powered by a workforce of nearly 300,000 dedicated professionals who reach beyond the walls of the exam room to not only prevent illness but also address the social drivers that may cause it — homelessness, substance use disorders, food insecurity and behavioral health. In the United States, health centers are the health care home to 1 in 5 uninsured people; 1 in 3 people living in poverty; 1 in 7 rural residents; nearly 9 million children and 400,000 veterans.
