Some people enjoy the time for rest and relaxation that retirement affords. For others, it’s, well, a little boring. That was the case for Thomas Barber, MD – and we couldn’t be happier!

Just a few short months into his retirement from an esteemed career as a physician, educator and medical executive, the pull of patient care and the desire to give back became too much for Dr. Barber to ignore. Fast forward to today, Dr. Barber, an internal/adult medicine physician, has joined the care team at Manet’s practice location at Father Bill’s Housing Resource Center (HRC) in Quincy, which opened early in 2024 to ensure easy access to care and services for HRC guests and the community at large. It is a perfect fit for this mission-focused physician.

“Since the very beginning, starting with my residency at Boston City Hospital and throughout my career, I’ve worked at many institutions that serve predominantly historically underserved populations,” he explains. “During my nine years at Quincy Medical Center as Chief of Medicine and Chief Medical Officer, I got to know Manet very well. Now, I look forward to working together with the staff at Father Bill’s to provide the best care for the patients who need us.”

In addition to caring for patients, he will also serve as a mentor, sharing his wealth of knowledge and expertise with newer career Manet clinicians. “I am hoping to work particularly with our nurse practitioners to support them in their work and help them adjust to the fast pace of primary care.”

Please join us in welcoming Dr. Barber to the Manet community!
