REPORTS TO: Patient Account Manager
FLSA Status: Non-exempt

General Definition and Scope of Job:

The Patient Account Representative II is responsible to verify and accurately add patients and payer information into the computerized Practice Management System.

Core Responsibilities:

  1. Daily duties include verifying, updating data into the patient’s eligibility coverage according to the payer’s information into our PMS
  2. Review upcoming appointments to indicate specific patient requiring a Good Faith Estimate communicate findings with appropriate colleagues and departments
  3. Maintains familiarity with billing information and procedural requirements of government and insurance payers and Manet CHC policies in relation to patient billing and sliding fee policies. Maintains knowledge of fee for service and HMO fee for service and capitation billing procedures and requirements
  4. Communicate information and or finding if problem solve tasks are necessary interdepartmentally
  5. Participates in meetings, training and other internal and external review and audit activities as requested by immediate supervisor and through management guidance
  6. Demonstrates commitment to performance improvement and identifies problems and recommends changes as needed
  7. Performs other related duties as required or assigned

Minimum Skills, Experience and Educational Requirements:

  1. High school education or equivalent experience;
  2. Basic computer and office suite skills;
  3. Demonstrated ability to use resources to increase knowledge and problem solving skills

Critical Demands of the Job:

  1. Manage multiple requests and prioritize appropriately;
  2. Ability to function in a faced paced setting with a variety of patients and staff;
  3. Attention to details and prompt follow up;
  4. Includes walking and standing for long periods of time, sitting for short periods of time, hand dexterity, clear hearing and speaking ability. Must be able to lift a maximum of 1/3 of their body weight;
  5. Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills; and,
  6. Must be responsive to multiple deadlines.

Working Conditions:

  1. Works in well-lighted environment with comfortable surroundings;
  2. Stressful at times due to competing demands, including attention to multiple patients and staff; and,
  3. Will comply with all applicable laws, and will cooperate with the Manet Community Health Center compliance program rules and regulations.

Required Availability:

May be required to work evenings, holidays or weekends, if department requires.
