Charles Schiffer, MD, MBA
Charles Schiffer, MD, brings four decades of experience in medicine to his role as physician at the Hough's Neck practice site of Manet Community Health Center.
Prior to joining Manet in 2011, Dr. Schiffer served as a hospitalist, specializing in caring for inpatients at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady, NY. He has held high-level positions throughout his varied career, including as Chief of Medicine and President of the Medical Staff at Samaritan Hospital in Troy, NY. He founded his own medical practice, Northeast Nephrology, in Troy.
Dr. Schiffer received his Medical Degree from the University of Cincinnati and completed two fellowships in renal medicine. In 1995, he left medicine to earn his MBA and work as a financial consultant, while maintaining his medical license. In 2000, the New York State Office of Professional Medical Conduct invited him to review medical records, an engagement that sparked his return to medicine.
Dr. Schiffer is certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support. He is a Fellow in the American College of Physicians.
