Valerie Lawrence Heemstra, DO, MSC
Valerie Lawrence Heemstra, DO, MSc, provides comprehensive primary care to patients at the Snug Harbor practice site of Manet Community Health Center.
Dr. Heemstra is certified by the American Osteopathic Board of Family Physicians in Family Practice and Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment. She earned her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine in Biddeford, Maine.
Dr. Heemstra completed her family practice residency at hospitals in Massachusetts and New York. She holds a Masters of Science degree with distinction from Rhodes University in South Africa.
Prior to joining Manet in 2011, she was on the medical staff at Upham's Corner Health Center and Neponset Health Center in Dorchester. Among other distinctions, Dr. Heemstra was Chief Resident of the Family Practice Program at Malmonides Medical Center. She has served in leadership positions of the Massachusetts Osteopathic Society.
